EMDR Consultation: A Warm Environment to Challenge Yourself and Deepen your Skillset

Are you energized by the results you saw during your EMDR training and completely overwhelmed about how to integrate it into your practice? Then you are in the right place. Becoming proficient in any good trauma therapy model takes a lot of support and experience.

I had the incredible opportunity to do my EMDR training while working for a group practice in San Diego about 10 years ago. During this time I was immersed in learning the theory and application of EMDR therapy from highly trained clinicians who I still do advanced consultations with today. People are often not provided with this robust of a learning environment and become intimidated by using EMDR which is something I am passionate about changing. EMDR is such a life changing model of therapy and can be really rewarding to work with as a clinician as long as you have the right support.

I am committed to providing a warm environment for you to ask questions and learn while being challenged to hone in your knowledge and skills. I provide both group and individual consultation whether you are looking for consultation for professional development purposes or to work towards certification.

EMDR Consultation for Professional Development

If you are interested in professional development, we can schedule as often as needed for you to get your questions answered and feel supported.

EMDR Consultation for Certification

If you are working towards certification, there are specific criteria set by EMDRIA that we will have to meet in order for you to be certified. Please be aware that in order to be certified you need to show competency in your understanding and implementation of the AIP models 3 pronged 8 phase approach. A minimum requirement of 20 hours of consultation is required and more are often needed to meet the criteria established for certification.

You must have completed basic training by an EMDRIA-approved training provider to be eligible to work towards certification. Basic training includes Weekend 1 and 2 plus 10 hours of consultation. Proof of completion is required for certification consultation.

Use of videos is required to show competency for the 8 Phases. This provides a great learning experience for you and the other group members. We understand that showing videos is a vulnerable step and we work to create a supportive environment as you take this brave step.

Formats for Consultation

I offer individual, group, and drop-in consultation services depending on what your needs and goals are.

  • Individual Consultation: One-on-one meetings tailored to your specific cases and questions. If you are working towards certification, we will also ensure that you have a robust understanding of the AIP model and implementation of the protocol.

  • Group Consultation: Cost-effective and community-building, group consultations allow us to learn from each other's experiences as well as receive feedback from the consultant.

  • Drop-in Sessions: I offer 1:1 consultation as needed for professional development purposes. If you have a particularly challenging case you want feedback on or have a list of protocol questions, we can meet once or as often as needed for you to get your questions answered.

If you have been feeling really overwhelmed or afraid to use EMDR you are not alone. This is a very common feeling after doing the training and too many therapists try to figure things out without the support or just give up on the model. Any good trauma therapy takes time to develop proficiency. I look forward to supporting you on your journey the way that I have been privileged enough to have others help me.

I hope to hear from you soon.
