What Tara Treats

Tara's Approach to Therapy

Tara's work is built on the belief that people carry within them the capacity to heal and the strength to access it. Her role is to create a secure, nurturing therapeutic relationship that allows clients to be vulnerable — and to provide individualized treatment that meets each person's unique needs.

Her training in EMDR and Sand Play Therapy allow for a non-directive, body-and-mind approach that allow the nervous system to process experience organically, without requiring clients to find the "right words" for what they've been through.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) EMDR is a highly researched trauma treatment that uses bilateral stimulation to help clients reprocess memories that have become stuck in a trauma loop. When a person experiences trauma, the body continues to react as though the threat is ongoing. EMDR works with the nervous system's own wisdom to create a new, less charged response to those memories. Tara has completed EMDR basic training.

Sand Play Therapy Sand Play Therapy uses miniature figures and symbolic imagery to help clients externalize and explore their inner world. In a sand tray, clients create miniature scenes that reflect their internal narrative — thoughts, struggles, relational patterns, life transitions, and formative experiences — without needing words. This makes it particularly powerful in trauma work, where language often falls short. Tara holds a Certificate in Sand Play Therapy.

Mindfulness-Based Techniques Tara integrates mindfulness practices to help clients develop present-moment awareness, regulate their nervous system, and build a more compassionate relationship with their own inner experience.
