Supporting Clinicians Who Work with Trauma

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy utilizes various tools to facilitate bilateral stimulation

At Aspera Therapy, we believe that clinicians doing trauma work deserve a strong support system of their own. EMDR is a rich, complex model — and learning it well takes time, practice, and thoughtful consultation.

We offer EMDR consultation for therapists at all stages of their EMDR journey: those working toward certification, those deepening their skills with a specific population, and those wanting an ongoing professional home for case consultation and growth.

Meet Your Consultant: Stephanie Godwin, MA, LMFT

Stephanie Godwin is a co-founder of Aspera Therapy and one of New Jersey's EMDRIA-approved EMDR consultants. She is a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT) with a master's degree and a certified EMDR therapist who has been specializing in trauma and body-based approaches since the beginning of her career.

Stephanie’s areas of specialization include working with adults with attachment and relational trauma. She often uses parts work in collaboration with EMDR to support trauma reprocessing.

Stephanie is listed in the EMDRIA consultant directory and brings a warm, trauma-informed approach to her work with fellow clinicians. Her consultation style emphasizes building confidence with the AIP (Adaptive Information Processing) model, navigating complex presentations, and integrating somatic and body-based awareness into EMDR practice.

What working with Stephanie looks like:

  • A collaborative, non-hierarchical space where your questions are welcome

  • Clinical depth on trauma, complex PTSD, and somatic approaches

  • Support across all 8 phases of EMDR therapy
